Just days after allegations surfaced that PSG center-back Abdou Diallo was open to joining Aston Villa, the defender allegedly turned down the opportunity to join AC Milan.
Despite Milan won the Serie A championship last season for the first time in more than ten years, L’Equipe reports that the Senegalese international passed down the chance to join for the defending champions. Diallo is reportedly not impressed by the sports concept the Rossoneri have to offer.
The defender is considered surplus to needs by new boss Christophe Galtier, and PSG are frantically trying to offload Diallo this summer. However, recent rumours have stated that the 26-year-old is open to joining for Villa, with the center-back eager to work with Steven Gerrard.
Due to Diego Carlos’ ACL injury, which will keep him out until 2023, Villa are looking to add another central defender this summer. With Diallo now on their radar after the PSG misfit turned down an offer from Milan, a move for the Premier League team may now be imminent.

PSG might lower the reported asking price of £30 million in the last week of the transfer window in an effort to offload Diallo, and with Villa suddenly appearing to be in the driver’s seat for the former Borussia Dortmund star, Gerrard may soon be on the verge of landing a coup.
As a matter of fact, Diallo’s decision to pass on the opportunity to join Milan opens the door for Villa to make a move for the PSG defender in the coming days.
With the French giants eager to offload their defender, a deal could be reached between the two parties that would see the center-back move to the Premier League.
However, Diallo seems to be the exception, and Gerrard’s team must now make every effort to secure the PSG defender before next week’s transfer deadline.
Not many players would decline the chance to join for Milan in the same week that rumours arise linking them with a move to Villa.
In order for Villa to succeed in the Premier League this season while Carlos is out for an extended period of time, they need to recruit a strong defensive substitute. Signing Diallo will accomplish this goal, but time is already running out for the Birmingham-based giants.
