This is the latest Arsenal News with Arteta planning heavily for rebuild as 5 players set to leave the Gunners.
The Gunners will be busy bringing in new players this summer, but moving guys out the door might be just as important.
Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta has already stated that this summer would be a busy one for the club. Last season, Arsenal ended only two points outside of the Champions League positions, and they are eager to close the gap this season. Arteta was unambiguous when asked what the club planned to do to make it happen.

“We want to push the club to the next level,” the Spaniard stated before of the season’s last game against Everton in a news conference. “That is the goal.
In order to do this, we have a very clear plan, how we want to do it and execute it, and there are no secrets. We require money, as well as an increase in the squad’s quality and depth.”

They want to achieve so by enlisting the help of a number of players. The signing of Matt Turner from the New England Revolution is anticipated, but a striker is top of the priority list, with Gabriel Jesus of Manchester City understood to be the major target.
Youri Tielemans has also been suggested as a possible central midfielder, while full defender Aaron Hickey has also been considered. While bringing in new players will be crucial for Arsenal this summer, moving on from others might be equally important.
The Gunners have never been known for their ability to sell successfully. Last summer, ten players departed the Emirates, but the only one that Edu was able to obtain a significant fee for was Joe Willock. In the following months, they intend to fix this issue.
Alexandre Lacazette has already left the club on a free transfer, while Matteo Guendouzi’s loan move to Marseille will shortly become permanent.
However, the exits are not projected to end there. Five more players might be on their way out of the Emirates this summer, according to football.london.
Bernd Leno:
The writing appears to be on the wall for Bernd Leno’s Arsenal career, with Matt Turner set to arrive at the end of the month.
The German made an impression during his first two seasons at the Emirates, but was knocked down the pecking order when Aaron Ramsdale arrived last summer, making only eight appearances in the process.
The German international is on the lookout for a new club, and rumors say Fulham is in discussions to sign him. Leno wants to play first-team football in order to be included for the 2018 World Cup squad, therefore he’ll be looking to complete a move this summer, and with just a year left on his contract, Arsenal are willing to sell.
According to reports, the Gunners are seeking £8.5 million for the 30-year-old this summer. This may appear minimal, but Edu’s negotiating position is significantly weakened given his contract status and the fact that Arsenal has already signed his replacement.
Pablo Mari:
Despite being Mikel Arteta’s first signing at Arsenal, Pablo Mari has found it hard to ever really establish himself. Brought in to be the left footed centre-back that Arteta craved, his Gunners career was put on hold by the COVID pandemic and a long-term ankle injury straight after project restart.
Mari has expressed a desire to go back to Italy next season though, and it seems that with William Saliba’s return to Arsenal a permanent exit could be on the cards for the former Flamengo man.
However, since then I Bianconeri have changed managers and it is not clear whether new coach Andrea Sottil wants to bring the Spanish defender back to the Stadio Friuli.
Ainsley Maitland-Niles:
The England international’s loan with Roma will not be made permanent. football.london understands that Nottingham Forest have enquired about signing the 24-year-old. Ainsley Maitland-Niles could also go this summer.
The newly promoted Premier League side are looking for a possible alternative to Djed Spence who it appears they will not be able to sign on a permanent basis amid interest from Tottenham and several other sides.
Lucas Torreira:
Torreira was told that he is not a part of Arteta’s plans last summer, and with Mohamed Elneny having signed a contract extension and reports linking the Gunners to Youri Tielemans, it’s hard to see that changing.
“At the moment I don’t really know anything, I want to rest, disconnect a little bit because it’s been a very competitive season and in time I will sit down with my representatives and look for the best options.”
“My idea is to stay at Fiorentina and if that doesn’t happen then look for a team I can enjoy continuity,” he told Uruguayan press after their match with Panama on Saturday.
It was thought that the Uruguayan would be making his loan move to Fiorentina permanent this summer after an impressive season there, but the Italian side are now reportedly hesitant over a fee.
Nicolas Pepe:
It just hasn’t worked out for Nicolas Pepe since his £72 million arrival from Lille in 2019, and after three years he is set to leave this summer. The Ivorian failed to start a game for Arsenal in 2022 and seems to no longer be part of Mikel Arteta’s plans.
Reports suggest Arsenal are interested in signing Raphinha, which would surely spell the end for Pepe’s time in North London. The Gunners will surely be willing to listen to offers now though while the possibility of recouping a transfer closer to Pepe’s market value is relatively more possible.
