Latest Aston Villa News: Aston Villa fans question El Ghazi’s comments on Gerrard and his future

The winger is in the final year of his current Villa Park contract and is now on loan at Everton.

Aston Villa supporters have responded to Anwar El Ghazi’s remarks about his future at the club.

After a January trade to Everton, the Netherlands international is still on loan, but his time at B6 appears to be up.

“The style of play introduced by new manager Steven Gerrard leaves no room for wingers like me,” he told Elf (Eleven) Magazine. “At that point, you must decide whether or not to try your luck elsewhere.”

“I said yes when my agent asked if I wanted to continue playing in the Premier League.”

“Two days later, Everton expressed an interest in me. “I initially thought this was a fantastic opportunity for me, but things moved quickly.”

The loan list for Aston Villa players:

Frederic Guilbert (Strasbourg): current value £5.4m*

Keinan Davis (Nottingham Forest): current value £2.7m*

Jed Steer (Luton Town): current value £720,000*

Matt Targett (Newcastle): current value £15.3m*

Anwar El Ghazi (Everton): current value £9m*

Lovre Kalinic (Hadjuk Split): current value £1m*

Conor Hourihane (Sheffield United): current value £0*

Wesley (S.C. Internacional): current value £5.4m*

Here is what some Villa fans had to say:

Martindale, Mark: “Next season, I see him playing for Smith. It’s very likely in the Championship.”

“Reality is we’ve got Buendia, Watkins sometimes wide, Coutinho, Traore, Bailey, potentially Ramsey & chuk have slotted in there too, he’s just miles down the pecking order.” Will Ross says.

“Perhaps he’s just been told this, regarding wingers, by the manager to let him down gently.” says Ollie Williams.

Stuart Rae: I’m Stuart Rae “He is uninterested in those who do not produce anything. The operative word here is “create.” In his whole villa career, AEG has only had one assist.”

“Starts for Everton: zero Minutes on pitch for Everton: 11.” says the Mighty.

‘Sayali,’ I say “El Ghazi will probably be shipped to a different club in the summer if he isn’t receiving minutes at Everton following the move. All I want for him is for him to be able to play more football and regain his confidence.”

“Nothing to do with Gerrard having better options in that position at all.” says West Midlands Village.

“And what style is that?” says Anthony Beaman.

Startin, Jon: “What do you think? He’s more of an inside forward than a winger. Cutting inside to shoot or play to an overlapping run is favored by the right-footer playing on the left. I suppose what he means is that the front three is now more narrow, so those wide of the striker aren’t as wide to begin with, but that’s not what he meant.”

Chosen in 1957: “what he said is true, Steven Gerrard does not require or desire wide players because he relies on Digne and Cash to supply ammo for Ings and Watkins. Bailey, our finest wide receiver, was once again frozen out, and it appears that he will be deployed as a late-game impact player. Traore’s long-term prospects are poor, especially given his proclivity for injuries.”
