This is the latest Aston Villa News with club president preparing to have Villa Target as a replacement for ManCity bound star, who is set to leave in the transfer window.
With star striker Julian Alvarez poised to return to Manchester City, River Plate president Jorge Pablo Brito has announced that he has spoken to Aston Villa target Luis Suarez.
The Argentine footballing official revealed to the press via Fabrizio Romano that the South American giants had approached the former Atletico Madrid striker about a possible deal. Suarez is presently a free agent after leaving the La Liga team at the conclusion of last season.
However, River Plate aren’t the only team interested in Suarez, with Aston Villa reportedly pursuing the former FC Barcelona and Liverpool striker, with Steven Gerrard keen to add his former teammate to the Villains squad this summer after the arrivals of Boubacar Kamara, Douglas Carlos, and the permanent sigining of Coutinho.

Despite turning 35 at the start of the year, Suarez has shown that age is just a number for the Uruguayan striker, and according to Brito, River Plate are well in the race for the attacker, with the club president saying when asked if he had spoken to the attacker, “Yes, we have contacted Luis Suarez, but it’s now up to him.”
Suarez has lots of alternatives this summer, with La Liga and MLS teams apparently interested in acquiring him, and getting the striker for Villa would be a huge coup for Gerrard’s side, especially with the Premier League club wanting to add additional firepower to their forward line.
River Plate, on the other hand, might be Villa’s biggest signing danger so far, with a return to South America ahead of a World Cup year an enticing prospect for the attacker if he is to stay fit for the tournament in Qatar.
River Plate need a new striker to lead the line for the rest of the season, with Alvarez poised to replace Gabriel Jesus in the Manchester City team next season, and Suarez makes sense given his free-agent status and need to play regular football ahead of the World Cup.
As a result, Villa may now lose out on the Uruguayan forward, who would have been a fantastic addition to Gerrard’s team in what might be a thrilling season for the PL club.
