Aston Villa News: Villa to complete £100M transfer swoop for these ‘top signings’ in summer
Kevin Phillips has told Aston Villa that the summer additions of Wilfred Ndidi and Yves Bissouma would be a huge asset to the club.
Both Yves Bissouma and Wilfred Ndidi have been connected with Aston Villa in recent weeks, with the players’ current clubs wanting a combined £100 million when asked to name their asking price.
Kevin Phillips spoke to Football Insider about the likelihood of Villa signing the Leicester City midfielder and Brighton star.
“They’d both be great signings,” he remarked, “but the money they’ll cost, well, it’ll be a lot.”
“I believe they are both excellent players. They’ve both had success in the Premier League. They’d be a valuable addition to any Premier League club, especially Villa.
“The additions they’ve made and the signings they plan to make are positive from the perspective of Villa fans.” They want to add top-tier talent to the club. It’s a huge win for the supporters.
“Both Ndidi and Bissouma have their merits. They’d only become better if they were managed by Steven Gerrard.”
Since Marvelous Nakamba’s injury, which was highlighted in the game yesterday, Villa have been lacking in midfield. Douglas Luiz was used as a holding midfielder once more, but was replaced in the 58th minute.
After being caught out on the counter attack by Ismalia Sarr and Emmanuel Dennis, Villa went on to lose to relegation-threatened Watford. A sequence of play that might not have occurred if they had a midfielder like Ndidi or Bissouma on the pitch.
