The latest Aston Villa transfer news and opinions from Aston Villa, as Steven Gerrard continues to create headlines in the transfer market.
Simply said, Aston Villa is not going to waste any time in the transfer market this summer. Three players have been signed, sealed, and delivered thus far, with more on the way.
Villa sped through their talks with Barcelona to capture Philippe Coutinho’s services on a permanent basis. When they verified that news, the season hadn’t even ended yet.
Then they began this week by announcing that they had reached an agreement with Marseilles to sign Boubacar Kamara, and concluded it by signing Diego Carlos from Sevilla. The Steven Gerrard revolution continues, one player at a time.

And it’s not over yet: Villa are connected with a slew of new signings, including a pair of attackers, one of whom is well-known to Gerrard and the other to the Claret and Blue supporters.
They are ‘exploring the prospect’ of reuniting Gerrard and Coutinho with Luis Suarez, who is currently a free agent after being released by Atletico Madrid, according to The Telegraph.
And according to 90min, Villa Park is one of three teams who have’made contact’ with Roma about bringing Tammy Abraham back to the club. Arsenal and Newcastle have also been accused of doing the same.
Abraham scored 26 goals during his loan spell with villa in the 2018-19 season, helping Villa return to the Premier League.
There are no assurances either player would join, and Abraham appears to be content at Roma, but the potential is tantalizing – even if it would give Gerrard a selection nightmare — for both his starting XI and the rest of the Premier League roster of 25 players.
If Villa can execute an improbable double striker swoop, that bunch may look like this.
Villa’s possible 25-man lineup
Martinez, Olsen; Martinez, Olsen; Martinez, Olsen; Martinez
Cash, Konsa, Diego Carlos, Digne, Mings, Chambers, Young, Hause;
Boubacar Kamara, McGinn, Ramsey, Luiz, Nakamaba, Chukwuemeka, Iroegbunam;
Buendia, LuisSuarez, Ings, PhilippeCoutinho, TammyAbraham, Watkins, Traore, Bailey.
Do you think Villa should go for Luis Suarez, Tammy Abraham or both?
