Big Sam stops Leeds training sessions at Thorp Arch as behind-the-scenes move made

Sam Allardyce ditches Leeds United training sessions at Thorp Arch in behind-the-scenes moveLeeds United manager Sam Allardyce has decided to undertake training at Elland Road in preparation for theor crucial Premier League final-day encounter with Tottenham, according to Daily Mail.

The Whites enter the contest with Spurs on Sunday [28 May] knowing that their Premier League safety fate is out of their hands after they failed to take their chance against West Ham United last weekend.

Leeds currently sit second from bottom on 31 points, two points from safety and an Everton victory against Bournemouth on the final day would see them relegated to the Championship

However, the Whites must do their jobs on Sunday and win to have any chance of safety, and in preparation for the game, Allardyce has taken some drastic measures.

According to the Daily Mail newspaper [26 May, page 73], the former England boss has decided to undertake training at Elland Road in order to mentally prepare the players for Sunday’s “do-or-die” contest.

“The team usually train at Thorp Arch, 20 miles north of the city, but boss Allardyce wants his squad to feel more comfortable at their stadium, having won just two Premier League home games since Bonfire Night”, the report reveals.

    Desperate measures

The home form of Leeds United is absolutely terrible and is a strong indication of where they are in the league right now.

Elland Road was supposed to be a fortress, their saving grace in this disastrous season but the club have simply failed to make the most of the opportunity.

Sunday is certainly do or die, but how Allardcye’s men record a win is beyond even the Leeds United faithful, considering they haven’t won on their own turf since November, which is quite damning.

While relegation rivals Everton have managed to pick up nearly all of their points under Sean Dyche at Goodison Park, Leeds United have simply crumbled under the weight of expectation, and that’s why the Toffees arguably don’t even need to record a result on Sunday to have any chance of survival.

Dyche can rest with the fact that Leeds United simply don’t win at home, as well as Leicester City.

Their fate is in their hands while Leeds’ isn’t and that’s down to grinding out results at home. Victory on Sunday is absolutely paramount for Leeds United, and it’s why Allardyce has taken such desperate measures, but the question is, will it work?
