Simon Jordan has told talkSPORT that he has been disappointed in Harry Kane during the World Cup, suggesting that he has grown tired of seeing the Tottenham star seemingly play in midfield for England.
Kane had to wait for the last 16 of the tournament in Qatar for his first goal. In fact, he had barely looked like scoring in the group-stages of the competition.
He did however, still make a big contribution to Gareth Southgate’s side. The 29-year-old actually leads the assist charts at the tournament, having set up three goals.
Simon Jordan disappointed in Kane
In fact, Kylian Mbappe is the only player at the tournament to have been directly involved in more goals. But that does not appear to be good enough for some.
Jordan was asked about which player he expects to win the golden boot for the top goalscorer. And he quickly decided to rule out Kane due to his willingness to get involved in the build-up play.
“I don’t think it will be Harry Kane,” he told talkSPORT. “I’m somewhat disappointed in Harry Kane, albeit you can’t criticise St Harry because of the position that he holds.

“But I’m getting a bit tired of him playing central midfield. I’d much prefer he held the line up top.”
It seems incredibly unfair to criticise Kane. He will be underwhelmed with his goals tally so far. But he would have traded his golden boot in 2018 if it meant that England went a couple of steps further and won the whole thing.
So ultimately, he will be more concerned that England are through to the last eight. And in many ways, it is all the more remarkable that the Three Lions are in the quarter-final largely without breaking a sweat – and while Kane is yet to really get going in front of goal.
Kane’s ability to drop deep created the spaces which led to England putting the game beyond Senegal on Sunday.
And it is unlikely that Jordan will be disappointed in the Tottenham star if he sets up the goal which wins England the game against France on Saturday.
