Brighton have a “significant” sell-on clause if Everton target Viktor Gyokeres does leave Coventry in the January window, according to talkSPORT’s Alex Crook.
The 24-year-old striker has attracted attention from a number of Premier League clubs, with talkSPORT revealing (via Twitter, 28 December) that Wolves, Brentford and the Toffees are all showing interest, with the forward valued at around £20million.
The Swede was previously on the books at Brighton and Crook has since revealed (via Twitter, 28 December) the Seagulls could be in for a significant cash boost, should he depart the Championship side.
“Brighton and Hove Albion have a significant sell-on if Gyokeres does move on,” wrote the talkSPORT reporter.
Clever
Including a sell-on clause was a really clever piece of business from the Seagulls and it’s not a surprise to see the South Coast club acting in a financially prudent way. There was no way they were going to let one of their younger talents leave the Amex without including a sell-on clause in his contract.

If the Sky Blues do want £20million for Gyokeres, then it could well lead to Brighton receiving a pretty large sum, should he make the move to the Premier League. Everton could certainly learn a trick or two from the Sussex club when it comes to astute transfer decisions.
Furthermore, the Toffees should be looking to land players such as Gyokeres before their value skyrockets. A similar scenario happened with Richarlison, with Everton initially paying a significant fee for his services. The Swedish striker could develop should he make the move to Goodison Park, but considering his age, it’s unlikely that his value will increase much more.
