Following the completion of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s transfer to Chelsea from Barcelona, the 24-year-old midfielder Edson Alvarez of Ajax is said to be the next player that Chelsea will attempt to sign.
In a deal that will see Marcos Alonso move in the opposite direction, Chelsea and the 33-year-old striker Aubameyang are “fully in agreement,” according to Times journalist Tom Roddy on Twitter. As a matter of fact, the Barcelona forward is expected to travel to London on Thursday afternoon before getting a medical clearance to join the Blues.
According to journalist Tom Roddy, Chelsea may now turn its focus to Alvarez, who is “pushing” to sign with the Blues.
This follows recent allegations that the 24-year-old skipped Ajax practise this morning in an effort to secure a transfer to the Premier League.
Chelsea concentrate on Alvarez
This week, Chelsea reportedly offered £43 million for Alvarez, and it appears that they are prepared to pursue this transaction all the way to the end.
Thomas Tuchel’s team will now put all their eggs in the Ajax star’s basket with just hours till the window closes on Thursday night.
