The owners and directors will all pass the test.

However, due of Abramovich’s sanctions, the UK government still has to change the conditions of the license that allows Chelsea to be sold.

The disputed £1.6 billion debt, which Abramovich is writing off, will be held in a frozen account while its status is settled, which is likely to be a lengthy procedure.

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel expressed hope that the matter will be rectified swiftly after his team blew a 2-0 lead against Wolves, surrendering a 97th-minute equalizer.

The first meeting Boehly wants to set up is with Tuchel. On the immediate plans for this summer, he will require input from current managing director Marina Granovskaia and technical advisor Petr Cech.

The future of Granovskaia, who has worked for Abramovich for more than 20 years, must be decided, but her opinion will be valued in the next few weeks.

Chelsea must also deal with the issue of Romelu Lukaku. On Saturday, he scored his first goals of the season, but he has fallen short of expectations.

‘Yeah, but folks, OK, excellent performance, but now is not the time to speak about individual performances and congratulate individual players,’ Tuchel said when asked if Lukaku had turned a corner with his brace.

‘We did it as a team, and we lost important points.’ This is not the time to sing particular praises.’

Tuchel bemoans Chelsea’s stalemate with Wolves, blaming blunders.
