Chelsea News: Why Lukaku shouted at Pulisic and what Tuchel did at full-time

Chelsea’s 1-0 win over Crystal Palace was another disappointing performance in the league, but it was the Blues’ second win in a row.

Following their win against Tottenham Hotspur in January, Thomas Tuchel’s team had not played in the Premier League for about a month, and considering their forward play, some may claim they had not played at all during that period.

Chelsea’s attacking play lacked vigour, and it was difficult to see how they could get the ball past an Eagles defense that was rock strong.

In the 89th minute, Marcos Alonso found Hakim Ziyech for a volley that gave Chelsea a much-needed three points.

The show wasn’t always the most exciting, but football is always entertaining. london has compiled a list of some of the most noteworthy moments you may have missed.

    Why Lukaku Shouted at Pulisic?

Rather of playing Romelu Lukaku through the middle of the ice early in the second period, Pulisic chose to slow the game down and head around the perimeter, and when the Blues’ play broke down, Lukaku was ready to vent his displeasure.

Given how few and far between his opportunities were, it’s not unexpected that the Belgian was ready to express his rage. Lukaku rarely touched the ball, and Chelsea only had three efforts on target in total.

According to Opta, the 28-year-old had only seven touches against the Eagles, the fewest in a Premier League game for a player who played more than 90 minutes since 2003/04. (when the data is available from).

Lukaku had two of those touches in the first half, when he kicked off.

Lukaku’s few touches have been a result of a mix of the £97.5 million signing’s own mobility and Chelsea’s ongoing failure to successfully integrate him into their play, but Saturday’s figure sticks out.

Tuchel stated, ” “I’m not sure I have a decent response. I’m not sure what it says. He was plainly not interested and couldn’t make a point today, according to the report. I’m not convinced it speaks much about us as a whole.”

Badge for the FIFA Club World Cup

A gold insignia was emblazoned in the center of Chelsea’s away uniform at Selhurst Park to commemorate the club’s Club World Cup victory.

The Premier League does not usually allow uniforms to be changed during the season, but it appears that Thomas Tuchel’s team was granted permission to do so against the Eagles on Saturday.

It is likely to be the Blues’ sole opportunity to demonstrate their accomplishment in the division, since Liverpool was given the similar opportunity in their first game after the tournament following their triumph in 2019.

Chelsea will wear it in the Champions League round of 16 match against Lille, and it can be worn until next season’s Club World Cup, although it can only be worn on first-team jerseys and is not permitted to be worn on training gear or throwback shirts.
