According to the Spanish publication Sport, Chelsea will make a strong effort to recruit Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong in the near future.
This summer, the Blues have already added five players. Kalidou Koulibaly, Gabriel Slonina, Carney Chukwuemeka, and Marc Cucurella have all now joined the team after Raheem Sterling, who was the first.

It appears that the spending binge will continue. De Jong has allegedly become one of manager Thomas Tuchel’s top objectives, according to a recent report.
The Netherlands international is the subject of direct negotiations with the Blaugrana, and Sport reports that Chelsea is ‘pushing hard’ to sign him in the “coming days.”
De Jong has not yet approved a move, but he will be persuaded to do so since he is unwilling to accept a salary cut and give up his delayed income.

Once a summer move is approved, the Spanish newspaper reveals that Chelsea will have to shell out at least €80 million (£67 million) to capture De Jong.
Our opinion: Although Manchester United was thought to be in the lead in the battle to acquire De Jong, they now seem unlikely to do so for a few crucial reasons.
De Jong isn’t interested in moving to Manchester, and the Red Devils can’t provide him Champions League football, which is his first objective.
Chelsea are thus in a strong position to secure his services. De Jong is reportedly open to moving to London. Barcelona must now pay his unpaid salary before a deal can be made.
Given that Barcelona has to make a significant sale this summer in order to be able to sign their new summer recruits, this might happen quickly.
Chelsea has already invested £168 million in five players up front. Their spending binge may easily reach £300 million because to the high level of interest in De Jong and Wesley Fofana.
