West Ham have accepted an offer of around £3.3m from Wolves for Craig Dawson.
The veteran defender, who has become a hugely popular figure amongst the Hammers faithful since joining the club back in 2020, initially on loan from Watford, which was then made permanent the following season.
It was reported exclusively by ExWHUEmployee back last summer that the defender had asked to leave the club to move up further north due to personal circumstances. The club had hoped Dawson would see out the remainder of his contract this season, but now felt it was right to grant the players wishes.
Dawson will be fondly remembered in East London in playing a pivotal role in helping the club reach the semi finals of the Europa League and back-to-back top 7 league finishes thus qualifying for European football on both occasions.
“As we first reported in the summer, unfortunately the player has some family issues and his family are all based near Manchester,” Ex reported on Patreon.
”The commute between there and Rush Green each day was proving too challenging for the popular centre back.”
Ex also revealed that the club are now looking into possible replacements for Dawson, with defenders already being offered as alternatives.
“The club have been offered a number of defenders recently from some of the big leagues in Europe and are weighing up a number of options,” added our man-in-the-know.
”As we have mentioned before players whose contracts are coming to an end have been spoken too with a couple of new targets set to emerge.”
