There was a ‘collective groan across the country’ when the German national team boss delivered unwelcome news on West Ham star Thilo Kehrer.
That is the damning claim of a German outlet covering a press conference where manager Hansi Flick spoke about West Ham defender Thilo Kehrer.
During the 1-1 draw at home against Aston Villa last time out in the Premier League, West Ham legend Tony Gale remarked that he could not believe Kehrer was a German international judging by what he had seen from the £10m summer signing.
Well it seems he is not along in those thoughts if a new report from Germany is anything to go by.

Despite being well down the pecking order and hardly featuring for West Ham, Kehrer somehow retained his place in the Germany squad for the current international break.
Although perhaps it shouldn’t be too much of a surprise.
Prior to the Qatar World Cup, Germany boss Flick had used the West Ham man more than any other player since taking over from Joachim Low.
Germany are hosting next summer’s Euros and therefore do not have to qualify. So they are playing friendlies in this break.
They beat Peru 2-0 at the weekend with West Ham defender Kehrer playing for the final five minutes.
But in his press conference ahead of a game against Belgium on Tuesday night, Flick confirmed that Kehrer will start the match.

There was a ‘collective groan across the country’ as the national team boss delivered the unwelcome news on West Ham player Kehrer.
That’s according to German site Bavarian Football Works.
“Germany coach Hansi Flick planning changes for Belgium tilt,” BFW reports.
“The Germany lineup could look very different against Belgium.
“After an up-and-down 2-0 win over Peru, former Bayern Munich boss and current Germany manager Hansi Flick is planning changes to his lineup.
“What we know as this point is that Chelsea FC’s Kai Havertz and Borussia Dortmund’s Nico Schlotterbeck will hit the bench in favor of Bayern Munich’s Serge Gnabry and West Ham’s Thilo Kehrer (Sound of Germany fans collectively groaning).”
It is a damning indictment on Kehrer from his homeland after a torrid debut season at West Ham.

Kehrer had impressed initially after joining West Ham but has been responsible for six errors directly leading to goals this season – the most in the Premier League.
After struggling at centre-back in a three and a two, David Moyes has tried Kehrer at right-back and right wingback with mixed results.
Many believe he may be better suited to playing as a defensive midfielder for the Hammers long term.
