Latest Tottenham Hotspur News: Conte confirms injury blows for Tottenham ahead of FA Cup tie against Middlesbrough
Antonio Conte has given an update on the players who were unavailable against Leeds, and the news isn’t encouraging ahead of their FA Cup clash.
When Tottenham travels to Middlesbrough, Antonio Conte has stated that the four players who were unavailable against Leeds will remain out of the matchday squad.
Spurs go to Teesside for their FA Cup fixture following a 4-0 victory against Leeds on Saturday, which was a solid response to their midweek loss to Burnley.
The Lilywhites will compete in the cup tournament after advancing to the fifth round by defeating Morecambe and then Brighton.
To reach to this stage of the competition, Chris Wilder’s team upset Manchester United on penalties in the fourth round, so it won’t be an easy encounter for Conte’s side against the Championship outfit vying for promotion to the Premier League.
In his pre-match press conference ahead of Tuesday’s meeting, the Italian revealed the bad injury news.
“We’ll use the same lineup against Leeds. No [Oliver] Skipp, [Japhet] Tanganga, [Lucas] Moura, or [Rodrigo] Bentancur, no [Oliver] Skipp, [Japhet] Tanganga, [Lucas] Moura, or [Rodrigo] Bentancur “He confessed.

Skipp is out with a groin injury, Tanganga is dealing with a knee problem, and Bentancur hurt his ankle against Burnley.
When Conte addressed to the media on Friday, the trio had already been put out of the matchday squad against Leeds, but Moura was only ruled out of the team on the day of the game when it was discovered he had incurred an injury in training on Friday.
All four players provide the Italian some much-needed match alternatives, as both Skipp and Tanganga have been out since Tottenham’s 2-0 Premier League defeat to Chelsea.
Bentancur’s injury comes just a few months after he arrived in the city, and while Dejan Kulusevski has been excellent with Son Heung-min and Harry Kane, Moura gives another offensive outlet.
Conte now has fewer alternatives outside of his strongest XI, and has made place on the bench for Dane Scarlett, Harvey White, and Alfie Devine, among others.
To give his team the greatest possible opportunity of progressing in the cup tournament and getting one step closer to breaking Tottenham’s near-14-year trophy drought, the 52-year-old will have to make some decisions about how he lines up against Middlesbrough on Tuesday.
