In order to pursue a prospective management career, Duncan Ferguson reportedly turned down a transfer to Dundee United.
After leaving Everton to explore his own choices, the former Tannadice star has been jobless. Since Ferguson left his position as caretaker manager of the Goodison Park squad, first team positions have been predicted for him.
A move was made by Dundee United to replace Jack Ross with their former star, but he appears to have changed his mind.
According to The Daily Telegraph, United made the approach in the hopes that he would replace Thomas Courts and Ross as their third manager in 2022, although it is exceedingly unlikely to happen.
The Tannadice club presently has Liam Fox serving as caretaker manager, but if the match against Rangers goes on, they want to have a new manager in place before travelling to Ibrox the following Saturday.
Following the Queen’s passing this week at the age of 96, the Premiership match remains in jeopardy.
While in interim leadership of the Tannadice team, Fox has overseen two matches, defeating Livingston 2-1 in the Premier Sports Cup before holding Motherwell to a 0-0 draw.
