This is the latest everton News as Everton board happy to hit huge deal at the tail to progress to a news sponsorship deal with gambling firm.
Everton have agreed a club-record jersey sponsorship contract with Stake .com, which will take over from Cazoo as the club’s major sponsor.
The Blues and the firm, which advertises itself as an online sportsbook and casino, have agreed to a’multi-year’ deal. The contract’s term and value have not been disclosed, although Everton claims it is the club’s largest shirt sponsorship agreement ever.
SportEarly has learned that the increase on the arrangement with exiting sponsor Cazoo, an online vehicle reseller, is substantial and in the millions of pounds.
The confirmation of the arrangement with Stake .com comes little over two years after chief executive Denise Barrett-Baxendale said at a club AGM that “in an ideal world” Everton would promote gambling businesses on their shirts.
Professor Barrett-Baxendale stated at the time that the club’s attitude would always be a “commercial choice,” and Everton had just signed a deal with a different gambling business in December.

Following negotiations late in 2021, Everton declined to extend its two-year Cazoo arrangement, citing a desire to find a more profitable relationship.
The deal, which was initially valued at about £9.6 million per year, had a break provision that was invoked by the club. The two-year deal comes to an end at the end of this month.
The club is reported to have taken a realistic approach in its quest to extract maximum value from its partners, an effort aided by the growth of its commercial department, which now includes offices in London and the United States, as well as liverpool.
The club’s commercial connections with USM were suspended earlier this year when owner Alisher Usmanov was sanctioned for his ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin during the invasion of Ukraine.
Stake .com, which was founded in 2017 and claims to be the “world’s biggest cryptocurrency sportsbook and casino” on its website, will sponsor Everton’s men’s and women’s teams’ playing kits, and its logo will be visible at Goodison Park and Finch Farm.
According to the ECHO, Everton’s Stake .com relationship is worth a record amount both yearly and cumulatively. The agreement’s conclusion clears the door for work on Everton’s new uniforms to begin, albeit their release is still expected to be weeks away.
“Stake .com is an ambitious organization with excellent expansion ambitions, and we’re all extremely happy to engage into a collaboration with them at this moment in their journey,” Prof Barrett-Baxendale said in a statement welcoming the arrangement.
My talented colleagues in our new revenue team have made outstanding progress in recent months, working tirelessly to secure what is the club’s largest main partnership deal ever – I’d like to congratulate them on this achievement and express my gratitude to Stake .com for choosing Everton as a long-term partner on behalf of everyone at the club.
Finally, I’m happy to report that we’ve already collaborated with Stake .com on some great events and material for our local and worldwide fans, and we’re excited to share more information about them.
Stake .com has already been involved with the Premier League, with the company’s emblem appearing on the front of Watford jerseys last season.
Stake .com also signed a’multi-year’ arrangement with the Vicarage Road club, but they were relegated, leaving Everton as the only top-flight club to wear the company’s brand on their jerseys. The firm has agreements with different sports throughout the world, including the UFC.
Prof Barrett-Baxendale stated in January 2020 that “in an ideal world,” the club would have a sponsor other than a gambling company.
Her comments came as a rising number of fans voiced their displeasure with the club’s partnership with betting business SportPesa, while the club’s official charity, Everton in the Community, assisted individuals who Suffered addiction issues.
“In an ideal scenario moving ahead, we would prefer to have a different sort of sponsor on the front of our shirts as many football teams would, but that is a business choice we make as a football club,” she allegedly remarked at the time.
SportPesa has been a terrific partner to Everton Football Club in terms of monies donated to help Everton in the Community, but I believe that responsible betting is important. We can’t force anyone to make a decision, but we don’t want to be held accountable for reckless betting.”
The Gambling Commission regulates Stake.com in the United Kingdom. The corporation is registered at an Isle of Man address. During the previous season, ten Premier League clubs have betting firm as there shirt sponsors.
In response to the agreement, “We are tremendously happy to be collaborating with Everton, a club steeped in tradition and with a passionate and devoted following acknowledged the world over,” said Akhil Sarin, Stake.com’s head of acquisition.
As we want to increase our worldwide reach and develop our top-tier sports sponsorship portfolio, Everton is a club that perfectly compliments our own expansion aspirations.
It’s an incredible honor for everyone at Stake .com to be joining the Everton family and assisting the club with the move to the new stadium. We are looking forward to sharing this most thrilling chapter in Everton’s history with Evertonians all around the world.”
Everton signed a commercial agreement with i8.BET, which became the club’s “exclusive official betting partner in Asia” in December, establishing a new partnership with a gambling company.
The Stake.com agreement comes at a time when the role of gambling businesses in sports is being closely scrutinized. In December 2020, the government announced a review of gambling regulations, with draft suggestions anticipated to be released in the next weeks.
According to reports, the subject of gambling companies sponsoring Premier League clubs’ jerseys may be discussed, albeit the specifics of any proposals have yet to be confirmed.
The Select Committee on the Social and Economic Impact of the Gambling Industry in the House of Lords has previously stated: “Gambling companies should not be permitted to advertise on sports teams’ jerseys or any other element of their uniform. There should be no gambling advertising near or on any sports fields or venues, including sporting events.”
The government’s response was this: “The government has yet to see research establishing a causal relationship between operator logo exposure in this context and problem gambling in youngsters or adults. We’ve also found no indication that being familiar with operator logos is associated with compulsive gambling.”
