This is the latest Everton news with Kevin Thelwell sharing more light on his role as Director of football and what the evertonians fans expect from him.
Kevin Thelwell has spoken out about his position behind the scenes at Everton, emphasizing the importance of all sections of the club working together to progress.
The director of football was hired to Merseyside at the end of February and has already been hard at work in his new role in recent weeks.
Working alongside Frank Lampard and the rest of the recruiting staff, a large portion of his responsibilities in the foreseeable future will revolve upon moves inside the senior men’s setup.

However, that isn’t the whole of his responsibilities. As he comes to grips with all elements of the club he has joined, Thewell has made himself known at academy level, with the backroom team, and with the women’s sides by also making sure each one move forward at a same point.
Last week, the director of football offered an outline of his work outside of the men’s first team to former Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard.
He also offered a brief description of the two ideals he hopes to instill in whatever team he works for, including the Blues.
Thelwell made the following remark: “The director of football job description is broad here, so it’s mostly about helping the first team, but also all of the other departments that assist us in our efforts to win.
“So performance analysis, sports science, medical services, the academy, women and girls – all of these departments are virtually working together to help them be the best they can be.
“I’ve always considered that to be a critical and fundamental component of the job.” The position is about securing the future – about tomorrow. It is not just about today, though that is a crucial and fundamental element of it.
“The only way to accomplish it is to ensure that you interact with a large number of individuals and have a broad vision of what we want to achieve at the football club.”
“I’ve always worked on two streams in all the positions I’ve had, and Everton is no exception.”
Performance refers to what we do now to ensure that what everyone sees is as good as it can be, as well as planning for the future with a roadmap for new players.
“Any elite football team, in my opinion, is founded on that type of basis. Tim, I don’t get any sleep. There will be no sleep!”
