Marco Silva, the former manager of Everton, has spoken up about his time at Parma’s Goodison Park.
Former Everton manager Marco Silva has reminisced on his time at the club, saying that the ‘relationship with supporters was fantastic’ during his time there.
Silva took over as Everton manager before of the 2018/19 season and led the Toffees to eighth place in the Premier League.

His second season, however, did not go as planned, and he was fired in December 2019 following a 5-2 loss to Liverpool, leaving Everton in 18th position.
Since then, the Portuguese manager has worked hard at Fulham to re-establish his image. After winning the Championship last season, he was hired at Craven Cottage last summer and led the team to promotion back to the Premier League this season.
And Silva feels that, despite the previous season’s triumphs, his time at Everton has been tarnished because of the final few months. “When football is difficult due to poor results, it causes people to look at things differently than when the results are fantastic,” he told The Athletic.
“Everything was extremely excellent in my first season at Everton – the type of football, the development of players, the transfer market, the way we closed the season so well.”
And it’s impossible after three months [in 2019/20] due to a poor run of outcomes. In three months, I haven’t altered from one season to the next. It isn’t as a result of that.”
Despite growing unpopular with Everton fans in his last weeks, Silva thought he had a strong relationship with the club’s supporters. “The connection was good,” he remarked.
We completed the first season on a fairly high note. The club had also inquired about the type of football we played. We altered a lot of stuff. After that, we had a horrible run, and the club made a different decision. “I haven’t made a lot of changes.”
