Everton release statement of staying far from Russian billionaire
With the current Russia Ukraine war happening, Everton release statement of staying far from Russian billionaire and organization.
After Russian President Vladimir Putin declared war on Ukraine last week, Everton made a statement in support of the country.
The Toffees have terminated sponsorship agreements with USM, Megafon, and Yota, thus breaking relations with Russian billionaire Alisher Usmanov.
The club issued a statement on Wednesday in response to mounting demands to end its ties with the three Russian corporations.
It said: “The horrific events in Ukraine continue to shock and sadden everyone at Everton.
This awful situation must be brought to a close as quickly as possible, and any more deaths must be averted.
The players, coaching staff, and everyone else at Everton is and will continue to be fully supportive of our player Vitalii Mykolenko and his family.
The club can announce that all commercial sponsorship agreements with the Russian businesses USM, Megafon, and Yota have been suspended with immediate effect.”
Alisher Usmanov has been encouraged by Everton to terminate connections with him.
