Footage has emerged that shows Stuart Attwell made a big error in the first half of Leeds United’s 0-0 draw.
Leeds managed to grind out, what was in the end a solid point as they ended the match with just 10 men on the pitch following Luis Sinisterra’s ‘petulant‘ sending-off for two bookable offences.
While many may have been left feeling aggrieved by the red card, there was no need for the winger to deliberately stop a free kick that was certainly not going to trouble Illan Meslier’s goal.
However, footage has now emerged showing Attwell’s inconsistency during the game, as Leon Bailey kicked the ball away in the first half, which delayed the restart of the game when Leeds had a free kick – essentially the same offence Sinisterra had committed – though no card was brandished.

SportEarly Thoughts on this decision from Atwell…
While the second yellow Sinisterra received can’t be excused and it was nothing short of stupid and a lack of experience, this sort of inconsistency shown by Attwell during the game is what will anger Leeds fans the most.
If Attwell is going to hand Sinisterra a yellow card and in turn, send him off, Bailey should also have been handed a caution, which in the long run, could have also seen him sent off having been booked in the second half.
Leeds fans will likely still be furious with the referee’s performance at Elland Road, but they can still take a lot of heart and positives from the game as they watched their side fight bravely to ensure they maintained their unbeaten record at home this season.
