Frank Lampard is said to be plotting his return to Premier League management two months after being sacked by Everton – by keeping his eye on upcoming developments.
Frank Lampard could be back in the Premier League next season – with the former Chelsea and Everton boss reportedly on the lookout for an opening.
Lampard led Chelsea to a fourth-place finish before being dismissed the following season, keeping Everton in the Premier League before a miserable start to the current campaign.
Not to be put off by his recent experiences, the former England midfielder is said to be keeping his eye on potential vacancies with plenty of sides struggling.
The Sun report details of Lampard’s managerial intentions noting the Crystal Palace vacancy and poor form of Leicester under Brendan Rodgers as potential destinations.
Fulham boss Marco Silva’s links to Tottenham are also noted, as is the situation of Southampton with Ruben Selles trying to guide the Saints to survival.
Earlier this week, Lampard’s former Everton assistant and Chelsea team-mate Ashley Cole spoke about their time at the club – and why it might’ve gone wrong.
As quoted by the Mail, he said: “Frank would have had a lot of challenges that us, as coaches, weren’t aware of and stuff that was above us. How he has to manage up and manage the staff around him, of course it’s going to be difficult.
“Maybe it was a transitional period for the club, (so) it was always going to be hard.
“It’s a humungous club. We wanted to do better for the club, but was it just that we were there are the wrong time?”
Lampard said at the time: “Coming in to Everton last year I knew we were in a tough moment and I will always be proud of the incredible work and support from everyone involved to keep the team in the Premier League last season.
“Thanks to everybody that played their part as the whole club came together. I will never forget the incredible night against Palace that we shared. I want to thank all Evertonians for the welcome that you gave to myself, my staff, and my family.
“It truly is a special club with a huge heart, and an incredible history. I’m disappointed that we couldn’t achieve more together and wish all the players and everyone at Everton FC the very best for the future.”
