Sources: Newcastle could now accept Allan Saint-Maximin offer after U-turn
Newcastle United will consider parting with winger Allan Saint-Maximin this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
It is believed the Magpies are willing to let the 26-year-old depart if they receive a suitable offer.
Football Insider revealed on Monday (24 April) that Saint-Maximin himself will look to leave St James’ Park if he doesn’t receive assurances about playing time going forward.
Champions League semi-finalists AC Milan are monitoring the Frenchman’s situation, while top clubs from across Europe are ready to pounce.
Saint-Maximin has racked up 26 appearances across all competitions this season.
But he has been named in a starting lineup just 11 times in the Premier League – and it is believed that he is concerned about becoming a backup option in the future.
Newcastle had previously resisted interest in Saint-Maximin but have now changed their stance.
The uncapped Frenchman has managed one goal and five assists across all competitions.
Competition for places at Newcastle is set to become more fierce in the 2023-24 campaign, with the Magpies on course to finish inside the top four and thus qualify for the Champions League group stages.
Newcastle have already moved to add a new winger with Anthony Gordon joining from Everton in January for a reported £45million.
Football Insider revealed on Monday (24 April) that Eddie Howe’s side are also keen on doing a deal for Leeds United youngster Crysensio Summerville in the summer window.
Newcastle sit third in the Premier League following their 6-1 demolition of fifth-place Tottenham on Sunday (23 April).
