How bad is Gnonto’s injury at Leeds?

Gnonto rolled his ankle in Italy’s 2-0 win over Malta and was forced from the field on only 22 minutes. He had played a cameo from the bench against England days prior and headed back to Thorp Arch nursing an ankle problem.
The Athletic noted that the injury wasn’t a serious one and that Leeds had hoped Gnonto and Wober had “avoided lengthy absences after carrying out assessments on the injuries suffered by them on international duty.”
However, an image has since emerged of Gnonto with Jack Harrison, shared originally by @StandfordMSoccer, with the Italian teenager in a protective boot, heightening the likelihood that his setback is at least a mid-term one. After today’s clash with Arsenal, Leeds host Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace in back-to-back fixtures next week.
Gnonto, 19, has scored four goals and registered three assists in 20 appearances since joining Leeds.
Gnonto is so robust and has taken a lot of heavy treatment over the season.
So, to see him in a protective boot, and the fact he’s even out of action, tells you this injury might not be as straightforward as Leeds will have hoped.
Fingers crossed that the boot is nothing more than a precaution and that we see the 19-year-old back before the end of the month.
