West Ham chased the signing of Matheus Pereira from West Brom in the summer of 2021, before he ended up joining Al-Hilal instead.

The Saudi Arabian team paid £16 million to sign the 26-year-old, according to The Leicester Mercury.

West Ham fans will remember the transfer saga well. David Moyes chased Jesse Lingered like an obsessed stalker, before switching his attention to the Brazilian attacking midfielder.

At the same time, Al-Hilal joined the race to sign Pereira, and this led to a hilarious Twitter beef between their fans and ours.

The Saudi side won the race for the talented star in the end, but it seems as though things haven’t gone too swimmingly for him out in the Middle East…

West Ham chased Matheus Pereira, now he’s trying to leave Al-Hilal

The Brazilian attacking midfielder is seemingly trying to force his way out of the Saudi Arabian club.

Pereira is apparently going through a nightmare situation with Al-Hilal.

Football journalist Zach Lowy claims that that is mostly due to three months unpaid wages:

The fact that Pereira chose a move to Al-Hilal over joining West Ham proved that he was a mercenary more interested in money than actually achieving anything in the game.

So the fact that he hasn’t been paid in three months is actually incredibly ironic isn’t it! Poor old Pereira eh!

The thing is, West Ham will most probably be linked with a move to sign Matheus Pereira after the latest revelations.

He is actually a very good player, and possesses genuine quality. It’s just a shame that he placed money ahead of creating a legacy at a great club like West Ham.

And for that reason, I’m sure that David Moyes won’t have any interest whatsoever in signing him in the January transfer window this winter.
