Adam Pope shares honest verdict on Leeds United forward Georginio Rutter after 1-0 defeat v Chelsea
Leeds United forward Georginio Rutter “needs help” from his attacking teammates if he is to start finding the back of the net for the Whites, according to BBC journalist Adam Pope.
The 20-year-old has struggled for game-time and form since his £35.5m move from TSG Hoffenheim and according to reports in Kicker [7 March], he’s already missing his Hoffenheim teammates.
In his six games for the club, he’s been brought on as a substitute on five occasions and has so far not done enough to merit any starts at Elland Road, however, Pope admits the French youngster needs assistance to find his mojo.

Speaking on the Don’t Go To Bed Just Yet Podcast [6 March, 05m28s] he said: “I think at times you could say he looks a bit isolated which you could also say about Bamford recently. The delivery wasn’t coming in either, very poor delivery-wise.
“There was little for him to feed off. Not much sticks, he needs help.
“At the moment it’s a mantle that seems too heavy for him I would say and we’re expecting too much on the back of Rodrigo and Bamford not being available at this point. It doesn’t look like he’s ready for that role for me right now.”
Not his fault
It is safe to say that Rutter is struggling as a Leeds United player right now, but there’s cause to argue that the 20-year certainly isn’t being aided by his teammates because of the lack of chances created for him. The same can be said of Bamford too.
The Whites are certainly missing the aggression and tenacity of Rodrigo in the attacking third, and the Spaniard is someone Rutter can quickly learn to feed off when he returns from injury.
The young Frenchman needs to be afforded time and the right conditions to thrive in English football, but because of the perilous position the club are in right now in the Premier League table, that patience seems impossible.
Also, he was a Jesse Marsch capture, and with the American coach sacked, Rutter’s bedding in period has taken a huge hit as a result. However, the responsibilities now fall on Javi Gracia to find the right attacking formula for his talented attacking options to thrive when they desperately need it in the coming weeks.
