Jim White interrupts Simon Jordan live on talkSPORT with breaking Leeds transfer news

Jim White had to interrupt Simon Jordan live on talkSPORT on Thursday 12 January to share news that Leeds United had agreed a fee for Hoffenheim striker Georginio Rutter.

Leeds will pay £35million in total it appears after White shared a message he was sent while live-on-air from the radio studios in London.

It ironically came while Jordan was saying that Andrea Radrizzani needed to spend more money, with the reigns predicted to be handed over to the 49ers soon.

Speaking live on talkSPORT, as shared on Twitter on Thursday 12 January, Jordan kickstarted his rant by taking aim at those already at the club.

“With Leeds, I think they’re an ownership model away from being a very significant competing football club again,” he said.

“I think if they stay in the Premier League, we may see that ownership model change. Andrea has done a great job, we spent time with in Qatar and he’s done a great job in getting Leeds back into Premier League, I do think there is an ownership change that needs to happen and you’ll probably find it’s the Americans because you don’t see American investment in a football club without, necessarily, some degree of engagement – that’s why you have an American manager and dug out.

“I think Leeds are a management decision away from being a bigger football club because I don’t think Jesse Marsch has got the chops. I think the ownership model will change and you’ll see Leeds kick up on a gear.

“I think ultimately, Leeds are going to have to spend money than they are spending.”

White was having none of it, interrupting his co-host to share the breaking news that has been seen up and down the country over the past week.

“Well, Simon on that very subject, as you were speaking, I’ve just had a message that Leeds United have now agreed a £35million deal for Hoffenheim forward Georginio Rutter.”

    Done.

    It has finally happened.

Leeds may finally be getting the striker to ease their woes in the final third that have been around at Elland Road for numerous years now, not just a few months.

Rutter looks to be a real talent, but that is all for now, and it will be down to Marsch to prove he can be that top coach that Jordan doesn’t believe him to be by helping the French sensation.

Radrizzani has to be applauded too, as his chequebook has remained open despite most Leeds fans knowing that this will most likely be his final season at the club before the 49ers fully takeover.

Leeds have had a brilliant first couple of weeks in this transfer window with Max Wober and potentially Rutter being confirmed, but it then gives them another fortnight to go even further.

An out-and-out left back and potentially another midfielder could be huge for the club in general, and it would transform the squad, although it is smart to likely not get our hopes up just yet.

This is an amazing start, let’s see where it can take us.
