John McGinn clear feelings on Aston Villa future amid Manchester Utd transfer links
Manchester United are allegedly interested in signing Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn for £40 million this summer.
John McGinn is completely focused on being the greatest player he can be at Aston Villa, where he is coached by Steven Gerrard, despite suggestions that Manchester United are interested in signing the Scotland international this summer.
The Man United board is thought to be interested in signing the 27-year-old ahead of the summer transfer window opening in July.
McGinn is said to be on the club’s shortlist to upgrade their midfield and is valued at roughly £40 million, according to the Telegraph.
According to the source, his leadership abilities appeal to the club’s hierarchy, although Villa would be hesitant to trade one of their top players two summers in a row after selling Jack Grealish to Manchester City for a Premier League record transfer fee last year.
McGinn, who has three and a half years left on his contract, is a key component of Steven Gerrard’s plans for the future.
He’s also recently stated that he still has “a lot to learn” for Villa as the team strives to improve under Gerrard’s leadership.
On talkSPORT, McGinn said: “He [Gerrard] is a top-notch manager who is both honest and fair.
“What we do have in common, despite having taken quite different routes in football, is that we both play, or have played, in the middle, and we both want to win.
“From there, it’s an easy connection, and all I’m trying to do is learn from him and Gary McAllister, two elite midfielders, and progress as a player.”
“I still have a lot to learn, and we’re collaborating closely to get the greatest results for the club and myself.”
