‘Keep an eye on Spurs’: Journalist says Tottenham could move for 26-year-old Wolves ace

Tottenham Hotspur could be set to go back in for Adama Traore, according to talkSPORT’s Alex Crook.

The Spaniard was the topic of conversation earlier today on talkSPORT, as his contract at Molineux continues to wind down.

Traore’s deal expires at the end of the current campaign.

For months, there have been no indications he will be signing an extension.

The player has had at least one offer on the table from Wolves. It has looked as though he wants to play out one final season.

But things could potentially change with Julen Lopetegui now at the helm.

Traore has already had a lot of nice things to say about the new head coach, so it’s not out of the question he could ultimately sign a new deal.

But he remains set to leave as things currently stand, and Crook today spoke about potential interest from Spurs.

He said: “It looks like he isn’t going to sign a new contract at Wolves. If he wants to join a European club he can do it in this window and sign a pre-contract.

“Keep an eye on Spurs, because (Fabio) Paratici has always been a big admirer of Traore. He was close to joining Spurs before that loan move to Barcelona. They need a right wing-back, which is the role they were targeting him for. I don’t think he wanted to play at right wing-back, that’s why the move didn’t happen.

“But maybe he might just fancy that now.”

Danny Murphy then added: “Loads of ability, loads of talent. He just needs a good coach. Sometimes you just need to find the right fit.”

Adama Traore should surely wait to see what happens at Wolves before deciding future

Rather than signing any pre-contract agreement this month, Traore should sit tight and wait to see what the coming months bring.

So far, he has given the impression that he’s ready to move on.

But it’s possible Lopetegui could be the man to get the absolute best out of him.

Maybe Wolves will come into really good form in the second half of the season and Traore will be willing to stick around for a revitalised project.

It would be frustrating if he ultimately decided to go to Spurs.

If is he going to depart, it ideally needs to be to a team that Wolves will not come up against.
