Leeds United return to play on Sunday against an in-form Fulham side.
Despite a promising start to the season, the Whites are on a rough run, having suffered a disheartening loss to strugglers Leicester City last week. Jesse Marsch’s team has not won since the end of August, and they need to get back on track if they are to avoid being dragged into a relegation fight.
On Sunday, they play Fulham, who have had a strong start to the season and are presently in the top half of the table. In the interim, we’ve compiled a list of the most recent transfer rumours and news surrounding Elland Road.
During the summer, Leeds were connected with Fluminese winger Matheus Martins, and they now know how much they will have to spend. According to Extra, Udinese attempted to sign Martins, but their offer of eight million euros plus a 10% sell-on fee was refused.
Fluminese are said to seek a nine million euro fee plus a 15% sell-on charge, and it would be fascinating to see whether Leeds reconsider now that they know how much a transaction will cost.
Cesswell recall is very probable
Charlie Cresswell, who is currently on loan at Millwall, might be recalled by Leeds.
According to The Phil Hay Show, Cresswell is likely to be recalled from Elland Road if his playing time does not improve. Cresswell was a regular for the London club early in the season, but he has been omitted from the squad for the past four games.
“Millwall have basically gone from a back three to a back four, so they only need two centre-backs in the lineup,” Hay said. “But he’s not even in the squad, and if that continues, I believe he’ll be back in January looking for work.” Nobody is going to do that, in my opinion.
“What’s the purpose if he’s not playing?” In January, there is a recall clause. “The main reason he went to Millwall was to get games.”
