Their scouts have taken notice of Nelson’s growth and will continue to monitor his progress as they explore a possible transfer. Nelson, who was named academy player of the year in 20/21, appeared in pre-season games last summer and has been a regular with the club’s U23s.
According to Sportsmail, Leicester are prepared to trade Jannik Vestergaard this summer, which might open up a first-team window for Nelson as he competes alongside Jonny Evans, Wesley Fofana, and Caglar Soyuncu.
If Premier League champions City confirm their interest, the promise of a road to Leicester’s first team will almost certainly be a deciding factor in the teenager’s decision.
City has been loaning out its younger players to sister clubs and other teams who share manager Pep Guardiola’s mentality.
