Douglas Luiz, a midfielder for Aston Villa, might be acquired by Liverpool through a trade.
In the foreseeable future, Liverpool may make acquiring a midfielder their top priority. Despite having a wealth of quality in the centre of the field, several of Liverpool’s more seasoned players have begun to show symptoms of deterioration, suffering frequent injuries.
The Express claims that Luiz was a target for Liverpool during the summer transfer window, but no deal happened because Aston Villa wanted to maintain hold of the Brazilian.
Steven Gerrard may be tempted by a trade move, and the Express has reported that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain might be involved in the exchange.
Oxlade-Chamberlain has previously praised Gerrard and referred to him as his “hero.”
According to the article, Oxlade-Chamberlain would be open to a transfer to Villa, and working under a manager he holds in high regard would be the spark that ignites his career once more.
Since Oxlade-Chamberlain has yet to play for Liverpool this season, it stands to reason that the 29-year-old would be interested in leaving the team if he wants to finish his career playing frequently at the top level.
