By postponing their chase of Jude Bellingham, a midfielder for Borussia Dortmund, Liverpool might end up hurting themselves. If the Reds can’t get Bellingham to Anfield in 2023, Jurgen Klopp has suggested options, but Tottenham Hotspur could be set to grab one from under their eyes.
Since moving from Birmingham City to Dortmund, Bellingham’s reputation as one of Europe’s most promising young players has risen.
However, the 19-year-old hasn’t been hotly tipped for a summer transfer due to the Bundesliga club’s understandable reluctance to part with him following his move to Manchester City.

But next summer, he’ll likely draw a lot of attention from powerful players all around the continent. And Liverpool, who had previously looked at hiring Bellingham in mid-June, will be one of the teams bidding for his services.
Given the calibre of the anticipated competition, Klopp is rumoured to have options in addition to the England international, with Nicolo Barella of Inter Milan being one of them.

However, during a busy transfer window at Tottenham, sources in Italy suggest Antonio Conte may be attempting to get the jump on his German counterpart.
After missing out on Aurelien Tchouameni to Real Madrid, Liverpool has reiterated that they are not aiming to strengthen their midfield this summer.
Darwin Nunez was the Reds’ marquee acquisition of the window, costing them £85 million, and Klopp seemed content with his team’s composition heading into the upcoming year.
When Bellingham becomes available the following season, there is a good chance they will come back to the table in search of a fantastic midfield addition.
However, if Spurs move early to sign Barella and they are unable to get him, they may come to regret their choice to oppose a drive for his services this summer.
