Everton reportedly see Anthony Gordon being at the club for the long term and also becoming a leader and an important voice in the dressing room.

According to CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs, the plan with his new deal is to bring life out of him as a footballer after a slow start to this season.

Frank Lampard recently went on record to address the speculation of his contract after his big-money exit links over the summer.

Jacobs told Give Me Sport,”I think the plan here is to get him on a new deal and then get new life out of him as a footballer first and foremost, but also a long-term leader of this team and an influencer of this team to make things happen.”

    Needs to shine

We all know the talent Gordon possesses coupled with his ability to turn games around in the blink of an eye.

However, this season, fans have craved to see that sort of brilliance from him and hopefully the new contract can see that spark return to his game.

It is a lot of responsibility for a 21-year-old but that certainly is what drives him and we’re hoping to see more of the same in the second half of the season.

Hopefully, he does not have his head turned by Chelsea or any other club looking to sign him as a new contract would also protect Everton.

They can then demand big money in case he wants to leave in the future and the player will also not be able to force a move away.

We do not see him causing any trouble behind the scenes and if he’s handed the captain’s armband in the future, we do see him staying put for a long time.
