Despite Manchester City’s interest, Tottenham Hotspur appears to be edging closer to signing Destiny Udogie from Udinese.
Tottenham has given wing backs a lot of attention in order to play Antonio Conte’s 3-4-3 formation in the future.
On the left wing, Inter Milan’s Ivan Perisic has arrived, and Middlesbrough’s Djed Spence is on the right.
While Sergio Reguilon is ready to go, Conte still has options like Ryan Sessegnon, Emerson Royal, and Matt Doherty.
Another wing back is being considered by Tottenham right now, but this time with an eye toward the future.

Spurs are interested in Destiny Udogie
On Wednesday evening, Fabrizio Romano reported that Tottenham and Udinese star Udogie were in negotiations.
The plan is for Udogie to sign with Tottenham then returning immediately to Udinese on loan for the 2022–23 campaign.
Tottenham may have plans in place for Udogie to eventually succeed Perisic on the left side.
Given that Perisic only has a two-year contract, it makes sense for Udogie to crack the first team in 2024.
The transaction, according to Calciomercato, is valued at €25 million (£21 million), and Tottenham is fending off serious interest in Udogie.
According to reports, Manchester City has considered signing Udogie as they weigh their left back alternatives.
Since Oleksandr Zinchenko joined Arsenal, City is looking for a new left defender to challenge Joao Cancelo.
Juventus, Inter Milan, Lazio, and Brighton were also interested in Udogie, but Tottenham will be happy to have beaten City to the prize.
Tottenham might only be interested in Udogie starting in the summer of 2019, but they probably believe they would lose out if they waited another year.
The fact that Udogie has been acquired now puts him out of City’s reach and provides him a another year to mature before moving to North London, where he will hopefully become a Premier League star.
