Manchester United in shock move to replace Ragnick with Ancelotti before the season ends.

Carlo Ancelotti, the manager of Real Madrid, has surfaced as a surprise short-term alternative as Manchester United continue their search for a new manager, according to ESPN.

Sir Alex Ferguson, the manager of Manchester United, has a close personal relationship with Ancelotti.

Since taking over from Ed Woodward earlier this year, new United CEO Richard Arnold is said to have sought Ferguson’s guidance.

United are looking for a long-term coach ahead of next season and have put up a five-man shortlist that includes Mauricio Pochettino of PSG and Erik ten Hag of Ajax.

Ferguson admires Pochettino, but has advised the Premier League club to consider Ancelotti if the ex-Tottenham Hotspur manager withdraws his name from consideration.

Because of his extensive Premier League and Champions League experience, Ancelotti is considered as the sort of coach who may be successful for a short period of time.

He’s also managed teams with a lot of high-profile players in the past.

Ralf Rangnick, who took over as interim manager after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was fired in November, has suggested he might recommend to the board that he continue on for another year.

Carlo Ancelotti has been very fantastic this days and with the decision of the board he might get the job done for United.
