Manchester United News: Rangnick admits Maguire might be removed as Man Utd captain
Ralf Rangnick, Manchester United’s interim manager, has conceded that he cannot guarantee Harry Maguire’s captaincy beyond this season.
Rangnick refuted allegations that Maguire and Cristiano Ronaldo are fighting for the armband in the locker room just a few days ago.
However, in the summer, the German will become a consultant, and United’s next permanent manager will have to decide whether Maguire is the natural leader the Red Devils require in the future.
“In terms of captaincy, we have a captain in Harry Maguire, and he will undoubtedly remain captain until the conclusion of the season,” Rangnick stated.
“I have no idea what will happen in the next one, two, three, or four years.”
“It makes no difference to me.” What happens in the next three months is crucial for me.”
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer appointed Maguire, 28, as United captain little over two years ago.
