This is the Newcastle United latest news as Board couldn’t hold back the deal with Ekitike who falls off the table by quickly shifting attention to £40M Tottenham striker target.
According to The Mail, Newcastle might focus on Real Sociedad striker Alexander Isak now that a deal for Hugo Ekitike is ‘all but dead’ because of the Frenchman’s absurd salary demands. Isak is valued around £40,000,000.
Isak, a 22-year-old international player for Sweden, joined Sociedad as a youngster in 2019 and has since played 128 times over the course of three seasons. He has scored 45 goals, including 10 last season, 16 in 2019–20, and then 17 in 2020–21.

Newcastle has now entered the contest. Ekitike’s £25 million transfer was approved, but Newcastle had to go elsewhere for a striker since Ekitike’s agency was asking for too much. Although Isak is “on their radar,” his £40 million price tag could be too much.

Newcastle United turn attention to Isak
Isak would be a fantastic addition. Isak, a superior attacker to Ekitike, is already extremely skilled at the age of 22. He has made 188 club matches and earned 37 caps for Sweden. £40 million is a fair price.
Newcastle already has Chris Wood and Callum Wilson, so it’s unclear if they would be prepared to pay that much to add another striker. Newcastle and Sociedad could need to reach a deal.
But Isak would undoubtedly be a step up from what the Toon currently have and even surpass Wilson. If the Toon are ready to dig deep into their pockets after paying over £30 million for Sven Botman, this may be a great deal.
