Newcastle United could be set for windfall as buyers line up for transfer listed star

Newcastle could be set for windfall as buyers line up for Fraser

Newcastle United may already have a buyer for one of their transfer-listed stars.

Since the Magpies got rich thanks to the Saudi takeover, much of the attention has been on incoming transfers, with the club now able to secure some jaw-dropping transfers such as Alexander Isak, Bruno Guimaraes and Sven Botman. But a balance must be struck as Newcastle navigate Financial Fair Play rules, and there must also be sales for the club to keep up with their spending habits.

In that vein, The Athletic have reported that Eddie Howe has decided to dispose of two players. Karl Darlow is now longer required following Martin Dubravka’s recall, and Ryan Fraser is out of favour, so both players have been told to find new clubs. In Fraser’s case, Newcastle believe they can collect a solid fee, and they may already have a buyer.

The Telegraph reported last month that Brentford were sniffing around Fraser, and now that the attacker has been transfer listed, their interest could well be piqued. It has also been rumoured that Southampton are keen to make a move for Fraser, and the solid level of interest may have been a big reason behind Newcastle’s decision to list the winger.

Brentford are enjoying a fine season so far, and they may opt to strengthen their wide options, while Southampton need all the help they can get as they battle the drop. Both clubs could offer a move back down South for Fraser who, despite being a Scot, has spent most of his professional career in the South, playing for Bournemouth for seven years.

Newcastle will be hoping they can start some sort of bidding war, though a swift and easy deal would suit them as they look to add key parts before the end of the month.
