Newcastle United have announced Dan Ashworth’s arrival after reaching an agreement with Brighton & Hove Albion on compensation.
After weeks of waiting, United can finally begin working with Ashworth, who departed the South Coast club in February.
Newcastle United are thrilled to announce that Dan Ashworth will become the club’s sports director after an agreement with Brighton & Hove Albion to release him from his existing contractual responsibilities with immediate effect, according to a statement from the club.
“The specifics of this agreement will be kept between the clubs private and must be approved by the Premier League.”

Following the required clearance procedure, Newcastle United will release more details.”
“It was a pretty difficult choice,” Ashworth stated after departing Brighton earlier this year. Because I wasn’t seeking for work, I thought about it for a long time and took it seriously.
I didn’t apply for the job, but I’ve enjoyed my time in Brighton. It’s a fantastic club, very well run, with excellent people to work with, and Tony and Paul (Barber) operate it well.
“You speak about employment having push or pull aspects, but there were none in this case. It wasn’t a case of wishing you could alter something.
I have truly loved my time in Brighton, both as a visitor and as a resident. The support I’ve received from staff and supporters, as well as players and others, has been outstanding.
“It’s been a really difficult choice.” When I’ve left positions before, it’s seemed like the proper moment or there were external pressures, but that wasn’t the case here, and I can only speak well of the club, its structure, and its personnel.”
