Darren Bent makes claim on Thomas Tuchel becoming Tottenham boss

Thomas Tuchel has emerged as a potential option for the Tottenham Hotspur job if Antonio Conte decides to walk away at the end of this season.

The Italian signed an 18-month contract when he took charge of Spurs back in November 2021. He did a remarkable job to get them into the top four last season, but things haven’t quite gone to plan this campaign.

As a result, there is a feeling that Conte could leave Spurs at the end of this season.

Darren Bent makes claim about Thomas Tuchel becoming next Tottenham manager

The Evening Standard reported yesterday that Tuchel, who has been without a job since being sacked by Chelsea, would be open to taking charge of Spurs if Conte walks away.

The German, branded as a ‘world-class’ manager, has proven his class in England. He led Chelsea to Champions League glory just a few months after taking charge, and he would be a fine option for many clubs in the world.

Bent, however, believes there’s no chance Tuchel will accept the Tottenham job. He thinks the German will have his eyes on massive clubs like Real Madrid and Bayern Munich instead.

The pundit said on talkSPORT: “I don’t think he would be (interested in Spurs), Thomas Tuchel, no.

“I could see him potentially going back to Chelsea, but I can’t see him wanting to go to Tottenham.

“Thomas Tuchel will be looking – I’m not saying Spurs are not a big club, they are – but he wants that top echelons of clubs. Realistically, he could go to Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, most clubs around the world.”

    TBR View:

Tuchel is a top-class manager, there’s no doubt about that.

The 49-year-old German made a fantastic name for himself at Borussia Dortmund during his time there, while he led both PSG and Chelsea to silverware.

Taking charge of Tottenham, especially if they miss out on the top four and lose Harry Kane, really doesn’t seem appealing for a man who could get a call from a much bigger club.

However, the same was said about Conte before he joined Tottenham, so there’s every chance Tuchel could do the same before the start of next season.
