Ruslan Malinovskyi, a purported transfer target of Fabio Paratici, would live out his ambition at Tottenham Hotspur.
Fabrizio Romano, an Italian journalist, stated on a recent episode of the “Here We Go” podcast that the Atalanta BC attacking midfielder, 29, is very eager to move to north London before the transfer deadline in September. This is in response to numerous reports linking Paratici with a move for the player this summer.
However, Romano went on to say that, for the moment, only Olympique de Marseille have made a move for the playmaker, with the French club proposing the Serie A side a player exchange with Cengiz Under. This is despite Tottenham being said to be interested in the Ukraine international.
Regarding the future of Malinovskyi, the transfer insider said: “It’s true that Ruslan Malinovskyi dreams of Tottenham. He would love to join Tottenham, so on [the] player’s side the message is pretty clear.
“But Marseille is the only team that has formally proposed a trade for Cengiz Under to Atalanta.
However, Atlanta’s response to the present terms of the deal is “no.” No deal has been reached with Marseille as of yet, let’s see whether Tottenham decides to participate.

It is not difficult to understand why Paratici is pursuing a move for the 29-year-old given how impressive Malinovskyi has been for Atalanta since his €13.7 million (£11.5 million) move to Italy back in the summer of 2019, as well as the signing of a new attacking midfielder who is known to be Antonio Conte’s priority over the remaining summer transfer window.
In fact, the £25.2 million prospect has been a constant offensive danger for Gian Piero Gasperini’s team throughout the course of his 130 appearances, contributing to 27 assists and 30 goals for La Dea, or one direct goal every 113 minutes of play.
The £21k per week Ukrainian also ranks in the top 8% of attacking midfielders and wingers in the top five leagues in Europe and in European competitions for non-penalty goals per 90, as well as the top 3% for shots, the top 9% for assists, the top 6% for shot-creating actions, and the top 4% for progressive passes made over the past 365 days.
For comparison, FBref ranks Dejan Kulusevski of Tottenham in the bottom 36% for shots, the top 4% for assists, the bottom 45% for shot-creating actions, and the bottom 37% for progressive passes over the past 12 months. He also ranks in the top 26% of attacking midfielders and wingers for non-penalty goals per 90.
Given how well Malinovskyi has performed over the past year and that he is currently playing in Serie A at the age of 29, should Paratici be successful in closing a deal for the €20 million (£17 million) talent in the coming days, Malinovskyi could very well become Paratici’s next Kulusevski-like find from the top division of Italian football.
The possibility of another Kulusevski-type signing is sure to excite the Spurs faithful and Antonio Conte alike, especially given the impressive form the 22-year-old has been in for Spurs since his arrival in north London in January. The player has already scored six goals and registered nine assists over his 23 appearances for the club.
