James Maddison has been a long-term transfer target for Newcastle United.
James Maddison is reportedly interested in joining Newcastle United at the end of the season as he prepares to leave Premier League rivals Leicester City.
The former Norwich City midfielder has been a long-term target for Magpies’ head coach Eddie Howe having seen two bids rejected last summer.
United are tipped to reignite talks in the coming weeks with the 26-year-old – who is entering the final year of his current contract – expected to leave The Foxes regardless of what division they’re in next term.
There have been doubts over whether or not Maddison is genuinely interested in a move to St James’ Park but according to the i Paper, he is having discussed Newcastle with Kieran Trippier on England duty.
Leicester have recently valued Maddison, who has attracted interest from Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, at £50million but could accept a reduced asking price if they are relegated into the Championship this weekend.
The report also adds that Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney is near the top of Newcastle’s summer transfer list. The Scotland international is ready to leave the Gunners after losing his place to summer signing Oleksandr Zinchenko.
Several players will be keen on joining the Magpies after sealing a return to the Champions League.
