Today’s “blitz” by Chelsea to capture Denzel Dumfries from Inter Milan receives a new update from the Italian press.
The recent rumours that the Blues had a preliminary bid rejected by the Nerazzurri, who seek between €35m and €40m for the deal, are confirmed by newspaper La Repubblica (via FC Inter News).

The player is reportedly “ready to say yes” to moving to Stamford Bridge, but an agreement must first be reached between the two clubs before that can happen.
A bit more information, including some encouraging specifics, is available on the La Repubblica website, which could encourage us to think that a deal is still feasible.

They first claim that Chelsea’s initial offer did not have the ‘desired outcome’, as the bid on the table was worth €25m, while Napoli demand at least €35m.
It’s also said that the Blues haven’t given up and will make another pitch to Inter Milan on Thursday in an effort to persuade them to accept their offer.
Chelsea likely understood when they made their initial bid that Inter Milan would seek €35 million, according to earlier reports from Italy. It is now their responsibility to go toward that request.
