According to reports, Trevoh Chalobah played a new position for Chelsea’s victory in the friendly match played last week behind closed doors.
The Englishman played in midfield as Graham Potter reportedly checked on some of the players who didn’t start his first game in charge against RB Salzburg, according to The Athletic.
Chalobah has had difficulty breaking into the Chelsea lineup this year; his lone appearance came in Chelsea’s victory over Leicester City.
Other than that, he has been on the sidelines as the Blues have tried to make use of their expensive summer acquisitions.
Despite the fact that the 23-year-old has consistently performed admirably for the team and has been dubbed “great” by previous manager Thomas Tuchel, this is the case.
Midfielder Potter tries Chalobah.
The German evidently trusted him in important situations since he chose to start him in both of the domestic cup finals last season, despite just using him as a defender.
It is logical to assume that the Englishman, whose prowess on the ball is widely recognised, could fulfil the job to great success while also serving as the defensive force the Blues don’t frequently see in that position.
Potter would undoubtedly want to give him a fair chance before he makes that choice because rumours have suggested that he may quit Chelsea if the circumstances about his playing time doesn’t alter and because he is unlikely to be in England’s World Cup team this winter.
He will have many weeks of close collaboration with the new boss, providing him with the ideal opportunity to demonstrate his abilities.
