According to a report by Inter Live, Leeds United could sell Junior Firpo to Inter Milan for £9 million if they suffer relegation.
Simone Inzaghi’s side’s transfer interest surfaced on Tuesday as it was reported that they had an interest in signing Firpo, who signed for the club for a £12.8 (Sky Sports) million fee in 2021.
But as Leeds could well be set for relegation at the end of the season, it seems they would be willing to offload Junior Firpo to Inter Milan.
Leeds could sell Firpo to Inter Milan if they suffer relegation
Despite Javi Gracia’s appointment, which has been slammed by Paul Robinson, things have not really taken a turn for the better, with the Whites languishing in 19th place in the table.
Inter Live have reported that if Leeds continue to slide downhill towards relegation, they will take a near £4 million loss on Junior Firpo with Inter Milan waiting in the wings for his services.
Furthermore, it has been claimed that the former Barcelona left-back whose defending was labeled ‘crazy’ by Ian Wright via Premier League Productions is keen on a transfer to a side that will participate in Europe next season.
Unfortunately, Gracia and Co. may have no choice but to let the 26-year-old bid farewell to Elland Road.
Growing problem for Leeds if push comes to shove
One can safely assume that not just Inter Milan in the case of Junior Firpo but several top clubs will be taking a stab at signing a player or two in the inevitable Leeds fire sale if relegation comes their way.
Whatever said and done, the Yorkshire-based club are not short on talent, which would lead to suitors trying to take their picks of the bunch and that too at a bargain price.
All eyes will be on Javi Gracia, as the pressure lies on him to rescue the club from a return to the Championship.
