The Mirror claim Fabio Paratici is ‘unlikely’ to suggest Mauricio Pochettino as a replacement for Antonio Conte at Tottenham despite the Argentine remaining on ‘good terms’ with Daniel Levy – despite Pochettino being a favourite.
The ex-Southampton and PSG manager is without work since leaving the French champions last summer. It looks as like Conte is set to leave at the end of the season, the turning point being exits in the FA Cup and Champions League.
With Pochettino out of work, and the Spurs job potentially becoming available – the links are obvious. A number of reports state that Pochettino would be open to returning to the North London club. Paratici does not see it like that.
The sporting director, who in his time chose to bring in Nuno Espirito Santo – while Jose Mourinho and Conte were Levy’s choices – is ‘unlikely’ to put forward Pochettino. That is, despite Pochettino possibly tempting Harry Kane to stay.

The report states that Pochettino and Levy remain on ‘good terms’. But, that is simply not going to be enough to sway Paratici in the suggestions he puts forward. Other names linked include Thomas Tuchel, Marco Silva and Luis Enrique.
The way it ended for Pochettino at Spurs was not a good one. He was backed, albeit not as much as Conte. But, have Spurs got better since Pochettino left? Absolutely not. And, to boot, they are playing a worse brand of football.
So, Pochettino would be a good choice. He would convince Kane to stay, and get a boost out of the players he worked with previously. The likes of Eric Dier, Ben Davies and others. But, if Paratici is not on board – Spurs might go elsewhere.
