According to Football London, Antonio Conte asked the Spurs board ‘late’ to send the team on a warm-weather training tour over the World Cup break, but they declined. They plan to stay in England indefinitely.
On Saturday, Spurs played their last game and won. A fourth-quarter comeback sealed a 4-3 victory for Conte’s resilient team. Two goals from Rodrigo Bentancur in the last two minutes helped Spurs to a win in the Capital.
With this victory, Spurs have secured a spot in the top four and will enter the World Cup quarterfinals. Many members of the Tottenham team will soon be in Doha, Qatar. In fact, eleven members of Conte’s current squad, including Harry Kane and Pape Matar Sarr, will be leaving.
Dejan Kulusevski, Lucas Moura, Clement Lenglet, and the rest of the squad will continue to play at Hotspur Way. Despite manager Conte’s request for a warm-weather training trip, the Spurs’ board decided against it.
A large number of Premier League teams are heading to the Middle East so that their World Cup players can return in peak physical shape. However, Conte submitted his proposal very late. None comparable to Hotspur Way has been found by the board.
During the World Cup break, the Tottenham board was unable to approve Conte’s request.
Given that many Spurs players will essentially be engaging in warm-weather training in Qatar, this won’t have much of an effect on them. Despite this, several members of the starting eleven will remain at Hotspur Way to continue training over the break.
The Spurs team will be allowed to take a day off. After missing his daughter’s 15th birthday celebration, Conte is heading back to Italy. On Boxing Day, Spurs return from their World Cup hiatus by travelling to Brentford. Aston Villa followed.
