Andrea Agnelli and other Juventus board members have surprisingly resigned this week from the Old Lady and while it leaves Juventus in tatters – it could prove to be a blow for Tottenham, as they desperately look to keep Antonio Conte.
One of the biggest champions of the failed European Super League, Agnelli has resigned at Juventus. The Old Lady’s chairman is believed to have step down due to legal proceedings at Juve, which has also seen Pavel Nedved depart.
Meanwhile, Spurs are still yet to make an announcement on Conte’s future at Tottenham. The ex-Juventus manager is out of contract at the end of the season. Spurs have the option to extend his deal by another 12 months, until 2024.
But they may prefer to hand him a new deal altogether. Of course, he has been linked with a return to Juventus. Max Allegri has turned things around of late, winning six Serie A games in a row without his side conceding a single goal.
Whether Allegri remains beyond the end of the season, remains to be seen. Italian journalist Francesco Oppini told JuventusNews24 that he has been told Conte considers Juventus as “his home” and wants to return at some point.

So, Juventus could look to bring Conte back in and Conte may find it hard to say no. What might have been preventing a move was Agnelli. The relationship between Conte and the ex-Juve chairman was a poor one. Publicly, poor.
The Mail reported in 2021 that the relationship between the two is an angry one. Conte once flipped his middle finger at Agnelli, and the old Juve chairman is said to have swore at him, in the public domain. But now, Agnelli has gone.
It remains to be seen how Juve recover from this. Who will take over from Agnelli and the rest of the board. Can they do it quickly enough to maintain their form off the pitch? Who knows. But with no Agnelli, Conte may be tempted.
It is another stumbling block potentially, in the eyes of Conte, that has been removed – previously stopping him from joining Juventus. With his contractual situation still not sorted at Spurs, the doubts are only going to grow and grow.
